VA Pension

Did you know the VA has TAX-FREE money available to Veterans or their Widowed Spouses to help pay for Assisted Living or Personal Care costs?

This Veterans Aid and Attendance Pension is a wonderful source of income for potential residents who otherwise would not be able to afford personal care services in your facility. Many Veterans or their Widowed Spouses are not aware that this money is available to them.

For 2008
The Pension Amounts are:

$998        For a Widowed Spouse of Veteran
$1554
      For a Single Veteran
$1852      For a Veteran with Spouse

General Qualifications

· The Veteran must have served in the military at least ONE day
during a period of war.

· The Veteran must have received an Honorable Discharge.

· The Veteran and Spouse (if married) must not have combined
assets over $80,000 if 65 or younger or $30,000 if over 65.
(
The home and auto are not considered assets)

· The Veteran or widowed spouse must be disabled and in need
of the care and attendance of another person (
assisted living
facility or personal care home
).

· The widowed spouse cannot have re-married and was living with
the Veteran at the time of death.
